Welcome to 2019! It is hard to believe that the holiday season is over! South Florida Jubilee was extremely busy singing! We were so excited that we performed our show “Let It Snow” at the Pompano Beach Cultural Arts Center and John Knox Village. It was wonderful for our members to share their holiday memories and traditions with our audiences. You could tell that many people in the audience had experienced or celebrated many of the same memories!! We sang at many different venues but our last one for the season was singing at the Veteran’s Home in Pembroke Pines! We always love being able to give back to our community and especially to celebrate members of our Armed Forces!
“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page Book. Write a good one!” by Brad Paisley reminds me of the work we have all being doing since May 1 when our year begins. Our vision for the chorus this year is that “South Florida Jubilee is a diverse group of women, committed to giving our best performance whenever we sing while we have fun and enjoy the camaraderie/friendship of the group.”
We are now 2/3rds of the way into the book we are writing! Our vision has defined us this year and we all seem to be working towards our goals: improving our craft by learning the nuances of intervals, pitch, and other musical skills, and continuing to recognize, support, and celebrate our diversity so that all members feel valued, and continuing to support new members! We are definitely singing better and are trying really hard to value everyone. We are reinvigorated.
But like every new book there is always some drama here and there, and twists, as it is being written. We are constantly not letting that define us, but figuring out the best way to mutually respect everyone! I know as we write these last few chapters of our book, it will be a good one! We will continue to grow and improve our musicality and our respect and admiration for each and every one of us!!
So as you write your book for this year try to make it the best novel ever! Set your goals and your outcomes! Who knows maybe there is a Pulitzer Prize in each and everyone of us!!
