Save the date of Saturday, October 6, 2018, for South Florida Jubilee’s Fall Fashion Show. This event comes only once every two years, and it is an afternoon of fun and fellowship filled with a variety of activities. I enjoyed attending the show with my friend, Barb Parga, years before I joined SFJ, and now like to share it with my friends and family.
One of the great reasons for the success of our Fall Fashion Show is the event’s chairperson, Doris Pfenniger. A charter member of SFJ, Doris begins planning the afternoon’s festivities a good nine months in advance. From her years of chairing the fashion show and luncheon, she has it down to a science, leaving no stone unturned in making this a perfect afternoon.
This year’s Fall Fashion Show will be held at Tropical Acres, a well-known Florida restaurant, famous for its good food and fine service. Tropical Acres is located at 2500 Griffin Road in Ft. Lauderdale.
But the fine food is only part of the fun. We raffle prizes. The table seems endless as we explore the interesting choices during the social hour, which begins at 11:30. Gift cards, hotel rooms, liquor, handbags, children’s toys, and books are just a few of the items that can be bid on for the low price of $1/ticket. You can have as many chances as you like buying tickets 6 for $5, and up. The excitement as Doris announces the winners at the end of the afternoon event is fun to watch and share. Of course, we’ll have our 50/50, where one lucky person will take home a cash prize.
The piece de resistance of the day is the fashion show. Once again, this year’s show will feature fashions from Dress Barn. This reporter had never been to Dress Barn before the show two years ago. It is now among my first choices for fashion because of the store’s variety of fashion, cost, and quality. The store meets the needs of all sizes and ages. In fact, I liked one of the outfits modeled in the show two year’s ago that I went right to the store and bought it! Luckily, Dress Barn has several locations in the area, making it an easy stop for shoppers.
And did you wonder if we would sing! Of course we will. Do SFJ ladies ever get together without singing a few songs? We will sing a few from our repertoire in order to whet your appetites for our Holiday program coming in December.
This event is for all ages. Friends, family members, children, even spouses and significant others take part in this exciting day of fun. Yes, men attend and have fun. All SFJ members have tickets to the event. The cost is $35 per person. Contact any one of us to purchase a ticket and we will be thrilled to have you join us.
